Reading
We are kicking off our first reading theme entitled Oink, Oink, Oink! We are reading versions of "The Three Little Pigs" that have been fractured to make them funny. We are going to compare and contrast these stories.
Extra Credit for Reading: Design a safe house for the three little pigs. You may be as creative as you would like with the materials. It can be handed in at any time during this theme. Have fun!
Math
In Math we are reviewing numbers~ number sequences, the number grid, equivalent names, and the many tools we will be using this year in class. We are playing many games to help us practice our addition and subtraction facts. Name that Number and Addition Top-It can be played at home with a deck of cards.
Science
In Science we are investigating plants. We will discover... ~ways parts of a plant help it survive ~ different types of plants ~ different ways plants make more plants
Social Studies We are practicing our map skills.

Our third grade team is excited to report that we have developed a third grade website, on Portaportal to develop technology skills and enhance learning across the curriculum. With portaportal.com, third graders will be able to log on to the activities that are a reinforcement and extension of our classroom lessons.
The activities on portaportal.com are interactive and curriculum-based lessons. Please feel free to explore the Portaportal resources. These lessons can be accessed from home computers connected to the Internet.
