                              And Our Responsibility

     The above motto has been adopted as this year's message for American Education Week. I am looking forward to seeing many of you visit our classroom and take part in the many exciting educational activities that your children experience each and every day.

        Our ongoing activities are as follows:

•  Reading Buddies- every Wednesday we meet with our kindergarten buddies in Mrs. Cornetta's class and teach them various reading skills as we read fun books together.
•  Math- we are on Unit 3- Measurement and Geometry.  We have been measuring with rulers, finding area and perimeter and study various geometric shapes.  Our weekly timed addition and subtraction fact quizzes will continue.  Keep practicing.
• Language Arts- We have been reading awesome stories in Community  Ties theme and learning abour various family customs.  Our fractured fairy tale has been completed and sent out to the publishing company.  We are very excited about seeing the finished product.
• Science- Animals.  We have been reading and experimenting our way through Chapter 2.
• Social Studies- Pilgrims- Chapter 8.  Learning about the Pilgrims and comparing their lives with ours has been very interesting.
• We have been practicing for our winter program, entitled "Home for the Holidays."  We have been learning so much about the various customs and celebrations around the world.  However, the  most important thing we have learned is that no matter what holiday you celebrate, it is a time for family and friends to be together. 
• Week-At-A-Peek-  Please continue to check your child's Assessment folders each Tuesday, sign papers, and read their week-at-a-peek for weekly activities.  This is a great way for your child to share with you all the exciting classroom lessons.
• Don't forget Parent-Teacher Conferences- a notice was sent home with your conference time.
