Art Parents and Substitutes: please check your emails for notification of the class schedules. Some changes were made due to confusion about the role of Substitutes, so be sure to check the dates against your calendars.
If you missed the meeting, you will find the agenda under the "files" icon. That should go over most of the information we discussed at the meeting. We will also try to get all the project directions on under the "files" section as well. You can print the directions out at home and review them. Please be sure to read them at least a week before your scheduled class ~ you may need to bring newspaper in for your class!
There have been some changes since last year's program. One is the "no snacks" policy. Last year, teachers had requested that we bring in only lollipops or pencils - they did not want the class time being taken up with snacks. This year, with the sugar restrictions, we are doing without snacks completely. We suggested using Fallon School Store gift certificates (sold in .25 .50 or $1 increments). The children love them and they are inexpensive. Another option is to purchase decorative pencils for the students. Please don't spend more than $1 per student ~ we are trying to have all the children receive items that are equitable.
Another change is that some teachers have opted to schedule their classes as we get closer to the month of the projects. If your teacher doesn't have a date listed for the month you're scheduled, you need to contact them and request two possible dates and get those to Deb Valente by the first of the month before the project. (if it's January's project, get the 2 dates to her by Dec. 1st) She will go thru all the dates and make sure we don't have any overlapping classes in the same grade and let you know the final date that you can share with your teacher.
Supplies:
We are happy to announce that we have a new cabinet for our art supplies! When you come in the lobby and go around the stairs by the elevator, you will see a beautiful cabinet against the far wall. Our supplies are all in or around that cabinet. The green paper bin (with all the paper supplies, directions and list of necessary supplies that you will need) will either be on top or inside. The carrying cases are on top of the cabinet, each labeled by grade. The red pencil cases are located inside: the glue sticks and scissors to the left and the colored pencils/crayons to the right. ALL ARE LABELED BY GRADE! PLEASE ONLY TAKE YOUR GRADES SUPPLIES AND RETURN THEM NEATLY WHERE THEY CAME FROM!! The samples will be on the bulletin board. Thank you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us and we will do our best to help you. We hope you enjoy the projects we have planned!
