Miss Corsaro's First Grade Class 

Can you believe it???  First grade is a quarter of the way over!  We have done so many new and exciting things during the first marking period! 

Math:  We can now tell time to the hour and half hour!  We even know how to write it in digital form!  1-C is ready to hit the mall!  We are pros at counting pennies and nickels!  Frames and arrows, temperature, even and odd numbers, and patterns are just a few more of the exciting things we have learned in Math so far!

Language:  First graders have already completed their first two reading themes!  We are currently reading stories from our new theme, "The World Outside My Door."  Ask us about all of the books we are reading about nature!  We have also been learning various word families and letter blends.  Making text connections is becoming a breeze!

Writing:  1-C is also working hard on our writing!  We are becoming amazing authors... especially when we remember to use capital letters and periods!!! :) 

Science:  We love our new science program!  The hands-on experiments and projects are our favorite!  Our new chapter is on matter.  We learned that matter is anything that takes up space.  It comes in three forms:  solids, liquids and gases. 

Social Studies:  We are having so much fun learning about community workers!  Thank you so much to all of our parent volunteers who have come in and talked to us about your careers!  We are also learning about the history of Thanksgiving!!!
