Ok so the game is at 2:30. The plan is to meet at
GRHS at 1 to bring stuff over to the field. Should not take long, but we need to get back to the school, change and be in the parking lot by 2 to march over. The halftime show should be between 3 and 3:45. Thanks for all your help this season with everything. We're in the home stretch. Only a few more left! Thanks!

Update
10/29/09
To all 7th & 8th Grade Band members. First of all thanks for the rehearsal this morning. I know it is difficult getting here that early, but as I say, being a good musician does take sacrifice and discipline, and a huge majority certainly came through today! PS - It sounded great!
The clothing fundraiser started today. I gave each student an order form for the clothing and it is also posted in the files section of the website. The design in the corner of the sheet is what is on the shirts and pants except the polo which is simply a red and white GR. Each student going on the May 21st Great Adventure trip must pay $110 and this is the fundraiser for it. You can make a lot of money selling these clothes without much effort. Checks for clothing should be made out to R & D Promotions. If you receive any donation checks, those should be made out to GRHS.
If anyone has questions, please let me know. You do not have to sell anything, but you will still be responsible for the $110 if you are going. The money for the trip will be due December 4th. Those checks should be made out to GRHS. If anyone knows now they are not going on the trip, please let me know. Thanks!

Update
10/26/09
This Thursday at
7:15 AM
will be the first of our five early morning rehearsals for the 7th & 8th Grade band. The rehearsal starts at
7:15
so please be on time and ready to go then. 8th Graders will be let out in plenty of time to get to class on time for block one. It will help to go to your locker first before getting to the rehearsal. The next early rehearsal will be after the teacher’s convention. Please remember that if you miss two of the 5 rehearsals before school, you will not be allowed to perform in the concert. The performance is the reward for all your hard work and participation; it is not a graded function of the band. If you do not participate in the rehearsals, you will not be allowed to perform at the concert. Thanks all and I will see you this Thursday morning. (and everyday until then!)
Update
9/29/09
Alright, I have sent emails to all the HS and 7th & 8th Grade Band Members.
If you are in concert band, you should have received one and if you are in march9ing band as well, you would have received a separate one.
If you would like to be on the list and did not receive an email, please let me know.
There are a handful that bounced back, but that generally means a typo somewhere.
I have also updated the assignments and calendar in the files section.
Please check out this weekend’s schedule for the marching band.
Update
9/25/09
YAY!!! The email list is done. If you receive this and would like to add other emails or have emails removed from this list, simply reply and let me know what you would like. If you do not receive this, well, you won't know that you didn't so .......
I have attached the lesson schedule and lesson groups to the email I sent. Please check out the dates of the lessons and especially the exams. Students should be getting their practice sheets signed EVERY WEEK except for the week after exams. I give them a little break for those weeks. The first sheet is due at their next lesson starting Tuesday. The assignments are posted in the files section as well as a copy of this schedule and blank practice sheets. Please check out the website as there is a lot of helpful info. Thanks and I will see you all soon!
Update 9/14/09 - HS Band Homework for 9/15
IT'S DONE!!!
All parts are now available at the web site.
1. Look in the files section
2. Download the three zip files (woodwind and brass) or the single Percussion files
3. Unzip the files and print your instrument.
There are instructions how to unzip files on the web site if you need them too. I also put the three scores there as well. part II has a new key so please re-download your part. There are also sound files there to download as well. You should hear the entire show playing when you let the web site load fully. Thanks to all that came in to make the recording sound so good. Thanks, good luck with the music, and I'll see you all soon!

Update
9/14/09
Greetings all and welcome to the 2009 7th & 8th Grade Concert Band! I have sent emails home to all 7th & 8th Grade Concert Band members.
This email list is very important to find out about events, HW, and other happenings in the band class. If you would like your email taken off this list or have another email address you would like to add to this list, please let me know and I will make sure to do so.
If you did not receive an email, please let me know and I will add you to the list.
If you have any questions throughout the year, please try to contact me through email. It is generally the easiest way to reach me. My voice mail extension is at the bottom as well. I do update it often. Anything posted on the voice mail, will also be on the web site and will generally be sent home in an email as well. Hope all have had a great start to the year.
I am certainly looking forward to it!
All 7th-12th Instrumental students will have their first notebook check tomorrow during their band classes.
They all are required to have the following:
1.
1 1/1” – 2” Binder
2.
Blank paper
3.
blank manuscript paper
4.
two folders that go into the binder
5.
2 pencils.
These items are required at all rehearsals!
Update
9/2/08
Welcome Back!!!!
We have started another year.
Please check this website for information:
Click on the “Files” button.
The files in this section will include a weekly schedule updated, well, weekly, a lesson schedule and a schedule of groups for those lessons, and a ton of other information that will keep you informed about what is going on in the classroom.
Also, please keep my email available:
klagos@glenridge.org
The web site and email are the two biggest ways that I deal with communication throughout the year.
Thanks for your time and feel free to ask any questions that you may have.
I am looking forward to a great year.
Thanks!
Check out the links section for a Sophia's link. Sophia Anastasia is a local flute player that has come to our school in the past and spoke to our flute players with techniques that help them improve. Her website has concert schedules, music, and information for better musicianship. Thanks for checking it out!
Below you will find many helpful items such as a calendar with all student dates including outside performances by students and staff, a list of vocabulary words students will be required to know for exams (for real this year), web links to important (and not so important) sites involving music and other interesting information. If you have any dates you would like to be added to the calendar, please send an email to:
klagos@glenridge.org
I will add the dates to the calendar so all can see. Thanks for checking out the page, and check back often for updated information.
