Dear Parents/Guardians
We are in the final stretch of the school year and we have many end of the year activities to look forward to - please check the calendar below to find out about the various events.
We are proud to inform you that:
- We had a most successful first annual Earth Day celebration with students enjoying the various activities throughout the day - special thanks to our PTO for funding a special project that allowed us to donate 270 potted plants and accompanying cards to 6 local senior facilities.
-
Thirteen Anthony Wayne 8th grade Latin 1 students distinguished themselves on the rigorous National Latin Exam co-sponsored by the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League. These students joined with more than 149,000 students across the USA and from 13 foreign countries. We achieved 5 Summa Cum Laude, 5 Maxima Cum Laude, 3 Magna Cum Laude and 2 Cum Laude awards - special thanks to Mrs. Schleicher for her efforts to allow our students to meet with such success!

Under the leadership of Guidance Counselor Mr. Robjohns, three 8th grade Peer Leaders submitted the winning script in the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey’s Middle School Public Service Announcement (PSA) Challenge. As the first place winning team in NJ, these students competed with over 2,000 of their peers from every part of New Jersey to generate one of the most creative and powerful substance abuse prevention television PSA scripts in all of the state. Their winning script will be filmed at AW, featuring the students who created it as well as all 18 of the AW Peer Leaders. The service announcement will then be aired on a local television channel.
Congratulations to the Anthony Wayne students who were recognized for their success during the third marking period. Students who achieve an all A report card are recognized on the high honor roll while students who achieve an all A and B report card are recognized with honors. The numbers that follow represent more than half of the 762 students who attend Anthony Wayne.
Looking forward to a superb end to this school year!
Mrs. Diane Pandolfi
