Yellow Folder:
Each student will bring home a “Yellow” Take Home Folder every night.
The take home folder is a communication tool between home and school.
Your child’s take home folder will be used to send important papers, schedules, ect. back and forth from school.
Please make sure you empty the pocket that is labeled “LEAVE” side each evening, and return the items on the “RETURN” side the following day.

Every Monday the homework for the week will be placed in your child's folder.
Make sure to check in your child's yellow take home folder for their homework assignments. Students know that all assignments must be complete by Friday for them to participate in the Friday Fun Activity.
The students are well into 100 Book Challenge and enjoy watching their steps add up. Please read over the parent introduction about 100 Book Challenge in their recording log. Remember, for every fifteen minutes they read, it is one step. Students are more than welcome to read more than two step a night. For every 20 steps they read, they will receive a prize. For every 100 steps they read, students will be presented with a metal. After reading each book, take time to ask your child comprehension questions (who, where, what, when) based on the book. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!!

Spelling words will be given each week based each student's individual needs. Words are taken from the stories, phonics skills, and high frequency words we are working on in class (1st, 2nd , and 3rd Grade Students Only). Each student will be assigned words on Monday and have homework assignments based on their goals. See homework sheet in student's yellow folder for more information.

We are well into the Everyday Mathematics and SF math program for the students. Parent letters will be sent home at the beginning of each unit. Homework sheets will be placed in the yellow folder. If you have any question regarding the math curriculum, please feel free to contact me.

All students attend science and social studies in their homeroom class!!!

High Frequency word card and zip cards have been sent home for each student. Please take time to review these cards with your child every night. Activities are written on each child's homework sheet and placed in the yellow folder. The more words your child knows
automatically, the less he/she will have to decode when reading. Students are graphing the number of HFW they get correct each week. The each have set a goal for the end of the year and a reward on what they would like to do with thier classmates when they reach the goal. If you would like to know more about your child's goal, please contact me.
Through working together as a team, we will focus on the individual strengths and needs of your child to best benefit him/her.
This mutual sharing of information/ideas is very important to me and can be accomplished by keeping the lines of communication open.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
You may write me a note and send it in your child’s yellow folder, call me, or email me.
In the past, I have found email to be a great way to communicate with parents.
Lets work together to make it the best year for your child!!
Thank you,
