Space and Bridges
Our second and third graders are working on topics related to space. The fourth graders are learning about bridges and the fifth graders are continuing their study of the brain and learning Word Masters words.
Space
2nd Grade
Second graders are focusing on Astronaut Training, Space Suits and the Space Shuttle. They are learning about how people live in space while on the Orbiter and in the Space Station. As a culminating project, they will create their own space suit complete with helmet, upper and lower torso, control module, gloves and boots. They will teach their classmates all about their EMU (Extravehicular Mobility Unit)! They will also participate in a mock mission to space and do experiments while orbiting earth!

3rd Grade
Third graders are studying the solar system! They are learning about the Milky Way and Earth.
They will create the planets to scale size, learn how each planet’s gravity effects their weight and how well they can move on it. We will also play "Galactic Games", which tests students' ability to jump and throw balls on the other planets in our solar system, too.

4th Grade
Fourth graders are studying all types of bridges--beam, truss, cantilever, arch, suspension and many others. Their culminating project will be the design and construction of a truss bridge made of toothpicks. It will be judged by classmates and parents for its appearance and ability to hold weight.
