Helpful Hints for Home:
Parents: Yes, you can and DO make a difference in your child's life. Here are some suggestions to help your student achieve further academic success.
1. Designate a quiet location for homework to be completed each night (if possible, stick to around the same time each day).
2. Read to your child every day, and listen when they read to you.
3. Capture "teachable moments" such as:
*Have your child try to read every store sign as you shop
*Have your child try to count your change from a purchase
*Throughout the day, ask your child to tell you the time (especially if you are somewhere that has an anolog clock)
4. Use flashcards for sight words and basic math facts for 5-10 minutes each night
5. Check your child's homework and student planner each night
If you have further suggestions you would like to see added to this list, to help other parents, please feel free to e-mail me.
