Greetings Friends!
Welcome to Art Class
where children use their heads, hearts, and hands
to discover, imagine, and express themselves.
Together we learn about art and ourselves
while making cross curricular connections.

The Sabold Sculpture Garden is a living classroom that inspires creativity, environmental awareness, close interaction with nature, and quiet reflection.

Artist in Residence Project 2005-06

Sabold's 50th Anniversary
Fourth grade students worked with Artist in Residence Bob Deane in the creation of a commemorative bench for the Sculpture Garden. Each child made two tiles with imprints of natural materials collected in the garden. Each child also made a 50th Anniversary commemorative tile. All tiles were glazed and fired in the kiln. The tiles were used to cover the sculptural bench. This is an example of environmental art.
Past PBRC Grant Projects:
Peace is a Garden within Me
An integrated project for second and third grade classes that combines Art, Literacy, Guidance, Ecology, and Technology.
A core group of students will participate in additional activities.

VISION
All Springfield School District Art Teachers and their students participated in theVISION grant project last year. Through video conferences, we visited the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Students created art realted to the themes they studied during the virtual field trips. Students researched their particular theme and produced written responses as part of this innovative PBRC grant project. A district wide celebration art exhibit was held to share our work.
