Typical Homework Assignments
Many of our homework assignments will become routine. This is what they will look like, however there will be some variations from time to time.
Reading/writing: Each night your child should read for at least 30 minutes and record the date, title, level and # of pages read on the 100 Book Challenge log sheet. All students will be required to read for at least 60 minutes over the weekend (15 min. = 1 step; 30 min. = 2 steps, etc.)
Spelling: Spelling homework may vary based on student needs. Some assignments might be, writing the spelling words in ABC order or three times each, sorting spelling words, and/or writing them in a sentence .
Math: One page in the Math Home Links book will be asigned each night. We usually go in order so if you are absent the math homework will PROBABLY be the next page in the home link.
Please practice addition and subtraction, and multiplication facts with your child. Using flashcards and math games are great ways to do this. You can access both flash cards and great math links from this site (and check out Miss Heckman's also!). Students can also use blank time tests for practice, which I can provide on request or by need. Try practicing in the car or during commercial breaks when watching T.V. The children should be mastering addition and subtraction facts and will be memorizing 1-10 multiplication facts during the second half of the year. Don't wait! Practice now!
Signatures: Students are required to have a parent sign both their homework book and reading log every night. If a student is missing a signature his/her homework is not complete.
Please make sure that you are checking/signing your child's homework book and reading logs each night .
Also, check take home folders on a daily basis for papers that are sent home.
If your child is absent please call the office as early as possible and arrange to get missed work and assignments. Also, if you know your child will miss school please let me know ASAP so I can prepare work to be sent home.

Please note: Your child will bring home a test folder and Wednesday express envelope every Wednesday. Please review the tests in the folder and sign the parent sheet. Return the test folder and Wednesday express by Friday.

Students may use the class portaportal and Study Island (www.studyisland.com), free of charge, at home. They know their log-in and password.
Birthdays- please feel free to send a small treat to school. It would be appreciated if you all treats are the same. Please do not send in drinks for birthdays. If we are not in school feel free to pick a different day and we will celebrate! All birthday party invitations must be sent through the mail unless they will be given to the entire class.
The best way to reach me is through e-mail. I check it many times through the day and will get back to you within a few hours. If there is an emergency, please call the office and have them forward the message to me.
