¡Hola! ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
My name is Mrs. Pusztay and I am the second and third grade Spanish teacher at both Scenic Hills and Sabold elementary schools. Spanish meets every other day. Second graders receive 15 minute lessons, and third graders receive 20 minute lessons. One of our main goals of the program is that the students enjoy learning a second language at an early age. The majority of the lessons are conducted entirely in Spanish. Don't be surprised if you hear your son or daughter coming home singing songs in Spanish! Spanish is taught primarily through visuals, songs, and games.
Why Spanish?
Many people in the United States speak Spanish. However, many people also speak French, Chinese, and Arabic. Regardless of what language is spoken or taught, there are MANY benefits to learning a second language at an early age. Here are some of them...
1. If a child begins language study after the age of 10, he/she will most likely never be able to speak it like a native.
2. Learning a language earlier creates a more native-like pronunciation.
3. It promotes acceptance and tolerance to other cultures.
4. Students who have studied more than four years of a language tend to have higher standardized test scores.
5. Students develop a deeper understanding of their own, and other cultures.
6. Provides a more competitive advantage in the workforce.
7. Enhances creativity and problem solving.
