School is Beginning!
Hello Kindergarteners and families! What a great September we have had and a fast one at that. We have begun to get into the swing of things with regard to routine, small assignments, and learning centers.... That's the big one. We accomplish alot in learning centers, not the least of which is teaching to individual learning needs. Everyone seems very happy as they work in their centers. Ask your child what color team he/she is on, and remember to ask what the task in their center was for that day.
We began our first "homework" this past week in class so each child would know the expectations when they begin doing it at home. This Monday, October 6, will begin their official homework that will done at home with a homework helper. Make sure you sign the assignment after it is completed each night. They are meant to be fun as they reinforce skills that we are working on in class.
In the Wednesday Weekly your child received his/her first set of sight words. They should be practiced nightly as part of your child's homework. Once again, have fun with them as you go over them. Make a game out of it instead of just drilling them like flash cards. Take them off the ring and place them around the house so that your child has to find the word that you are asking of him. Be creative.
Well, that's the latest in Kindergarten in Rm. 1.
Thank you for your cooperation in all that is asked of you. It is greatly appreciated.
Fondly,
Ms. Petrelli
P.S. Good job parents with the carline. You are pulling up to the Stop sign and staying in your cars so that we are able to put children in their cars more quickly so that everyone can be on their way in a reasonable amount of time.
As always...PARENT VOLUNTEERS are welcomed!
One way you can be involved in your child's education is by volunteering to help out during the week. Parent Helpers are always welcomed. As the Holidays come there will many times when extra parent volunteers would be helpful. If you come we will put you to work helping students, cutting out projects and preparing for future lessons.
Please remember that we do stipulate that parents cannot bring siblings in when they are Parent Helpers. There will be work for you to do and we do not want you to have to be worrying about your other children while you are here. Your cooperation in this matter will be appreciated.
