Class Info (Check box to include this section when classpage is printed:)

Welcome to Mrs. Miller's fourth grade class!  This year will be exciting for all of us.  There are many wonderful learning experiences planned for this year.  On this web page you will be able to access information with regards to specials, birthdays, homework, grading, numerous fun websites and much more information.  Happy browsing!!

Dear Boys and Girls, and Parents,

Welcome to 4th grade!! We are going to have a wonderful year! Fourth grade is full of fun and exciting activities like the Friday Night Prime Time, Winter and Spring Concerts, big field trips, Spanish, Art Shows, and many more special activities.

There is a lot to learn in Fourth Grade too. In reading we will read some terrific stories out of our text book, as well as really cool stories that I will read aloud to the class. The "100 Book Challenge" program is usually a favorite. I hope you have been reading!!

Math is full of new concepts. By the end of the year you will be doing Algebra, Statistics, Geometry, Area, Volume, Probability, Multiplication of large numbers, and, of course, everyone's favorite........Long Division!!

Science and Social Studies are exciting also, as we explore the Regions of the USA, and study Pennsylvania in depth. Science is a "hands on" subject which everyone loves.

We will have homework every week night, which will be assigned on Monday's so you know what your hmeork is for the week. You will have math, spelling, and 100 Book every week night. At times you will have long term projects.  A list of our "Specials" is posted below.

    Emergency Closing Information:

  •   Our school number is (610)-938-6600 .   On KYW (1060 AM) radio, the emergency closing number is 526.   Also the Springfield School District has a channel on Suburban Cable, Channel 11, which will also broadcast any emergency closings.

  •    100 Book Challenge is an integral part of our reading program.  The books that your child selects are at his/her independent reading level. that is the level in which they can read, fully understand, and enjoy without any help.  These books should  be fun and easy to read.

Please support our efforts by having your child read each night for 30 minutes.  Have him/her record the title on his/her 100 Book Challenge sheet.  Each 15 minutes is equal to one step.  Thirty minutes equals two steps.  Return the sheet and books each day.

Your child should read at least 700 steps by the end of the school year.
Please look for the weekly goal posted in the Student Planner.  This will help our students stay on track.
