Grades K - 4

Grades K - 2

Students will be working with Learning with Computers.  Learning with Computers is designed to teach students about computers and software applications.  Instruction is conducted through hands-on projects that integrate computer instruction with language arts, math, science, social studies, health, music, and art.  Each grade level of Learning with Computers will provide students with an opportunity to use the following software:  Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Internet Explorer.

Week of October 13 and October 20

Grade 2 - Students will become familiar with opening a file, using space bar, enter, and arrow keys, inserting text, and printing a document. 

Grade 1 - Students will become familiar with opening a file, naming a file, using a line tool, and using the fill color tool.

Grade K - Students will become familiar with making a new file, naming and saving a file, drawing shapes, printing a file, and closing a file.

Grades 3 - 4

Students will be using Bernie's Typing Travels, which is a comprehensive software package developed to help elementary students master basic keyboarding skills.  The program consists of the following educational features:  alphabetic keyboarding, skill building, numeric keyboarding, numeric keypad, educational games, and short stories.  There are also opportunities for integration with language arts, science, and social studies.

Week of October 13 and October 20

Students will be working individually on keyboarding lessons while displaying correct keyboarding technique.
