CAMP HECKMAN has started a NEW SEASON

We welcome a new group of campers to Camp Heckman!

Things have been going great as we begin to get to know each other and learn about our different "smarts."

I enjoyed getting to meet some of the campers' parents at Curriculum Night.  We had a chance to share what we were going to be doing this year.

Halloween at Camp Heckman

Everything is a little different at Camp Heckman, and Halloween is no different.

Next month, in October we will be having our Historical Biographies on October 30th.  The campers will come dressed as their favorite historical person...someone who has made a positive contribution to the world.  The camper will pretend to "be" that person and will tell us about their life and accomplishments.  The campers will wear that costume for the Sabold Halloween Parade that takes place that same afternoon.

Parents are invited to come in the morning and hear the campers give their reports.  A note will go out as to the time.  It should be around 10:30 am.

Contacting me :  The fastest way to contact me is through email.   Heckmdaw@ssd.k12.pa.us   If your message is time-sensitive (ex: please have my child pick up his brother’s homework), and you don’t get a response from me within 2 hours, you should call the office and have them send a note to the room. Last minute emails may not be picked up until after 4:00 due to staff meetings, team meetings, etc.  Substitutes do not have access to my email and would miss an important message.

    This Camp is for Learning…

C oming together and using our minds.

Sharing adventures and exciting rich finds.

Working with friends while having such fun,

Helping each other ‘til the day’s work is done.

A lways we’re stretching and reaching for more

While sitting at tables or sprawled on the floor.

We’re thinking, exploring, and wondering, too

With so many things to say and to do.

M arking each moment with questions to ask

Tramping through thoughts and feelings and facts.

Climbing the mountain of science with zest

Sifting through stories to choose what is best.

P erched on the edge, getting ready to fly

On wings of wonder in a crystal blue sky.

Searching for words like treasures in a cave

Each bit of knowledge to hold and to save.

This camp is for Learning!

Springfield Kids' Mission Statement Song

(Sung to: Proud to Be an American)

Standing as a cornerstone, in Springfield and Morton, too.

We're committed to what's best for all...to things we know are true.

To help us be the people, who will work and help and share.

We will grow in strength and honor, as we show the world we care!

 ____________________________________________________________________

And I'm proud to be in Springfield, where we laugh and hope and dream

Where we learn what is important, do what's best for you and me!

And I'll gladly stand up next to you, keep on working side by side.

Always doing what we know is right---and sharing Springfield pride!

The Adventure is just beginning!
