If you look at the fourth quarter this child was functioning at the P level at the end of the school year so they should continue to work at that level through the summer.
Q level books will be more difficult for this child and would require some parental guidance for comprehension.

TEXT ANXIETY: Third grade is the start of text anxiety for some children. Please help your child through this by:
-
Helping them prepare for tests. This helps them feel in control of the situation.
-
Stress "Do your very best" not "You must get an A"
-
Prepare ahead of time for tests, quizzes and assignments. The last minute marathon method usually raises stress levels.
-
Use flashcards and
mnemonic devices to memorize facts.
-
Have a quiet place to study and do homework.
-
Having a routine in place at home that will help a child with time management.
-
Talk about it. Discuss with them what they can do to relieve some of the anxiety.
-
Make the teacher aware of the situation. Sometimes a quick chat,one-on-one, can really help.

Many of our homework assignments will become part of our weekly routine. Please check your child's homework assignment book daily for specific assignments and reminders.
Typical Nightly Homework
Reading: Each night your child is to read for at least a half of an hour at his/her independent level. The reading needs to be recorded clearly on the log sheet. (15 minutes = 1 step, half hour = 2 steps etc.)
Math: Each night your child is to do the next page in his/her math packet. Be sure to check the back to see if it continues to the other side!
Spelling: Each night your child will do a page in spelling. One day of the week the students are required to put the word in alphabetical order. Spelling tests are every Friday!
Please be sure to sign the homework book every night. Homework stickers can only be earned if assignments are done completely .
Test folders and Wednesday Elementary Express envelopes are handed out every Wednesday and need to be signed and returned on Thursdays!
