Homework basics:  100 book challenge- clear envelopes will come home every night with 4 books  and log inside.  Children read the books over and over for the 15 minutes.  The books are supposed to be easy and fun for the children to read.  After they are done reading they color one block and you sign.  They may put the date in the block but they do not have to.

Math- the interactive homework book that you were given at curriculum night is their homework book.  Please have the children complete the assignment and return in blue folder the following day, as there is another homework paper on the back. Please initial at the bottom of the page.  There are always assignments of previous lessons assigned to your child online.  You may print out the work completed and send in the next day in your blue folder.

Homework that is not completed will be completed during recess.

Sight word practice is part of homework every night!

Your child may read two steps for 100 book challenge.  One step is required the second step is optional.  No more than two steps are to be logged each night.  We have already started two steps in school.  If you are choosing to read the optional second step, you may break up the time, it can be difficult to sit for 30 minutes of reading for some first graders.
