Class Info (Check box to include this section when classpage is printed:)

We're all set for the PSSA tests! The kids are ready! Remember to get a good night's sleep!

Parents: If you would like to volunteer to donate an item to our class, please let me know. I have a small list of things our class could use for the next two weeks of fun. These items range in price from $2 to $5 and will be used in classroom activities for the afternoon. I didn't want to type a list here because parents might end up sending in the same item. Jot me a note or email if you can help with our fun things and let me know what price item you'd like to send in. I will supply the rest. Thanks so much!!!!

Looking for a great site to practice math facts?

You can go in and set the program up to work on all the problems up to 9 + 9 and you can change the timer. In class we will be working on 100 problems in 3 minutes. Also, plug in the numbers to practice your multiplication facts, too!

Birthdays

Feel free to send in a small treat for your child's birthday.  If we are not in school on your child's birthday, pick a different day and we will celebrate.  Please send birthday invitations in the mail unless all of the children in the class are invited or a boy invites all of the boys or a girl invites all of the girls. We have discussed this during our Morning Meeting so the students know that trying to secretly give invitations out at school is not appropriate. This avoids hurt feelings and many tearful moments for the birthday child and the uninvited students! Thanks for your cooperation in this.

Homework Assignments

Many of our homework assignments will become part of our weekly routine. Please check your child's homework assignment book daily for specific assignments and reminders. Please sign the assignment book every day! Thank you!

 General Homework Assignments

Reading: Your child must read for two steps (30 min.) and record both steps in the 100 Book Challenge Reading Log. Please sign the log each time your child reads!

Writing: Some writing assignments may be sent home. If they are marked "On Your Own", please do not help your child with them. Occasionally, classroom writing pieces may have to be finished at home or edited with an adult if the writing was not completed in the time given during class.

Spelling

I will be changing the spelling program and plan to differentiate the spelling lists according to each student's results on the Ganske Leveled Test. Homework assignments will be standardized for each week but may differ between levels so a generic list of assignments will not be noted here.

Handwriting: Occasional assignments may be given.

MathA page is assigned each night in the HomeLinks. Study guides  and a list of helpful pages in the SRB (Student Reference Book - a parent's best friend) and handed out for each unit. Always keep practicing your math facts!!!!!

Social Studies & Science: Assignments are given as needed throughout each unit. Study guides are provided for the tests. Classroom participation is an important factor in grading.

Weekend Homework: I do not assign any new homework on the weekends except for reading over the weekend. This will start with 2 steps (total of 30 min. of reading) and will progress to 6 steps by the end of the year. Students who have been absent will have time to make up assignments.

                                Grading Guidelines
