Week of March 16th

This is a note to parents.  I have been very disappointed by the effort of the many of my students over the past two weeks as they have been working on the Poetry centers.  Many of the children are struggling with self-discipline.  While the students are at their seats working independently I am working with small groups or individuals at my desk.  I have asked everyday for cooperation, but there are several students who have wasted a good amount of time and will not complete all five centers and the assessment activity by Friday.  Any activity that has not been completed will result in a zero.  I will not accept late work in this case due to to fact that every student had ample time in the classroom to complete the work.  Please talk to your children about how they are conducting themselves in school.  I truly fear for their success in high school if they cannot gain some self control.  Luckily, there are several studnets who have set an excellent example of how to be a success in school our team. They come to class with their materials, they are open-minded and ready to learn, they listen and follow directions, and they challenge themselves. I applaud the effort of these students!
