Exercising not only strengthens your heart and muscles and burns away fat, but it can also affect your mood. Exercise causes your brain to release a chemical called endorphins, that make you feel happier!

Health and Physical education is a course required each year of middle school. Each student receives physical education every other day in the first, second and fourth marking periods. Health takes the place of physical education in the third marking period ,and therefore,it meets every other day.
The objectives in physical education are:
- to improve physical fitness
- to increase enjoyment of physical activity.
- to enhance development of motor skills.
- to develop peer relationships through cooperation, team work, and
sportsmanship.
- to promote critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Fall Curriculum: Sometimes during these units, if a student wishes to use a pedometer and walk/jog for the period to develop his/her cardiovascular fitness, they may do so for full credit if they reach 3000 steps in the period. Each student is tracking their progress. At the end of class, the student is responsible for meeting with their physical education teacher and recording the number of steps walked/jogged on a index card.
