Course Overview-8th Grade English- Periods 2, 5 and 8

We will be working with a variety of English materials this year. In addition to daily vocabulary building, grammar exercises, PSSA practice and writing assignments, we will also explore Greek Mythology, read the novel Tom Sawyer, be introduced to the works of William Shakespeare (English Poet and Dramatist) through reading A Mid Summer's Night's Deam and other styles of poetry.
Help class
Help class is available on a daily basis in Room 111, with either Mrs. Facciolo or Mrs. Brubaker, from 8:10-8:35 a.m.
You must check in to your homeroom teacher first, and come with a help class pass from them with the time and date clearly written on it.
Even if Mrs. Facciolo or Mrs. Brubaker has given you a help class pass, you must still check in with your homeroom teacher first, for attendance purposes.
After school help is available as well. Please let me know whenever you need to come after school for help and we can easily set up a time that is convenient for everyone!
Please come to help class with all the materials that you will need to work on or study from.
You will not be allowed to leave to go to your locker once you sign in to help class!
Help class is for: working in study groups for an upcoming test (with either Mrs. Facciolo or Mrs. Brubaker), completing a class assignment, finishing or retaking a test in either Mrs. Facciolo's English class, or an assigment or test you may have in Math, History or Science.
You must have something to work on or study from to be in morning help class or you will be sent back to homeroom.
You may also come to help class to review class material you may be struggling with or have a question about.
If you are ever absent, you should: Check Edline for assignments, call a friend for clarification or extra assistance, if necessary and check your period basket when you return to school for papers and assignments you need to make up!
The best times to go to your locker are: Before homeroom, after 2nd period, after 4th period, before and after lunch and at the end of the day.
