                                                Welcome Back to School!

                                                                                                       Mrs. Pantle  -- Room 100

                                                                      Epsilon Science

Science is a process of gaining knowledge and understanding the natural world. For this reason the emphasis in this class will be on understanding and using scientific process skills. The class will require students to be active learners. It is not enough for students to read about science; they must do science. Throughout the year students will observe, inqure, questions, formulate, and test hypothesis, analyze data, and evaluate their findings. The students, as scientists, will have hands-on, active experiences throughout the school year.

8th Graders will focus on earth science, earth's waters and chemistry in a laboratory setting. He/she will learn the proper steps in writing and completing lab reports and will generally complete one lab a week. He/she is expected to understand the names and uses of all laboratory equipment as well as clean-up procedures.  But most important learning how to operate the equipment safely and be a cooperative lab partner.
