Supplies: notebook, pencils, pens, textbook, folder. Students should bring their own calculators.
Help Class: Friday mornings at 7:30am by appointment. You must notify Mr. Staquet if you will be attending help class and get a pass from him or you will not be permitted in the building.
Tests: Any student who scores below a 70 on any test should see Mr. Staquet between 8:00am - 8:07 am with the test in hand as soon as possible.
Course objectives for 8th grade math:
Goal is to help students become more independent learners. Students develop skills and learn concepts in Algebra, Geometry, Probability, using integers, rational numbers and real numbers.
Course objectives for Algebra 1:
Goal is to help students become more independent learners. Equations and inequalities, graphing, informal geometry, probability, data analysis, problem solving using Algebraic concepts.
Grading: Students grades will be determined by the average of their test scores and homework grade. (other factors may apply)
Your child should be using their agenda for nightly assignments.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q?- What is my child's grade?
A - Ask your child for their tests. The average of these tests is their grade. See edline for all your child's grades. Site is updated approx. twice monthly.
Q? - Is my child doing their homework?
A - Homework completeness should be monitored at home. You may not be notified of missing assignments. Each child should have all their assignments in their agenda. Please check nightly to confirm the assignment is completed. You can use edline.net to make sure all assignments are correctly written in the agenda.
Q? - What should my child do about the homework if they miss class?
A - Children should see Mr. Staquet on their return to school for the missing work, they are not responsible for the homework on days they are absent due to illness. (For other absences see school policy in agenda.)
*** With the available technology (edline and classpage) it is the parent's responsibility to be aware of their child's progress. Progress reports are sent home once /quarter. Any behavioral comments left blank on the progress report indicate "at least satisfactory" progress.
