Overview
Students attending either Mr. Gilleeny’s or Mrs. Blickle’s art classes can expect to create at least one comprehensive project, as well as maintaining a hand-made sketchbook. Furthermore, every project is complimented by any relevant historical, social and cross-curricular contexts.
Procedures
Students are required to finish all projects on time and according to any delivered content and directions. Students who are not meeting deadlines or have encountered obstacles to achieving expectations, should attend help class. All help classes must be attended on Monday or Tuesday between 7:30 and 8:45 each week.
Help class passes must be obtained from Mr. Gilleeny or Mrs. Blickle at least one day before a scheduled help class. As a note, Mr. Gilleeny and Mrs. Blickle encourage students to attend help class and support students who are experiencing difficulties as much as possible. Ultimately, however, it is the student’s responsibility to seek a help-class pass and make an effort to attend their scheduled help class.
Grading
Grading is determined through at least one major project grade, a sketchbook grade and a participation grade. Please refer to the PHMS art grading rubric on either Mr. Gilleeny’s or Mrs. Blickle’s teacher web pages. Due to time restrictions and length of projects, cycle classes are limited in posting grades on Edline until the end of cycle. Final grades are posted on Edline and report cards according to the PHMS grading procedures and policies.
