Homework Assignments (Check box to include this section when classpage is printed:)

Dear students (and parents),
We are at the end of another school year!   I’m sure it’s hard to believe you are almost fifth graders!   Summer vacation is a long break from school and a wonderful time for you to practice what we have worked on this school year so you are as prepared as possible for fifth grade.
Please continue reading every day for about 30 minutes.   Reading the newspaper or a magazine is great reading practice.   Books are also great reading practice.   The Yakima Regional Libraries have a summer program this summer that allows students to earn prizes for the number of books they read.   It is free to get a library card and free to check out books.
Please practice writing as much as possible.   Keeping a summer journal is a good way to keep up your writing skills.   Make grocery lists, write stories, anything that keeps you writing!
Finally, practice math facts so that you know them all by heart.   By the end of fourth grade you should know simple addition and subtraction facts, and division and multiplication facts through 12.   You can get flash cards at a dollar store or make your own.   The important thing is to keep practicing.
Have a great summer and I will see you next year!!
