Dear Parents and Students,
Hopefully students shared everything they learned by visiting Home Depot with their families!
We are already working hard on Ohio Standards and I.E.P. goals while using diverse modalities and multiple exposure to help every student excel in life skills and academics. It has already been a very busy and fun year. The students have already completed and sold 8 Cornhole bean bag games.
HALLOWEEN CHOCOLATE can now be ordered! Students will bring home an order form and you can obtain additional forms here on the website. If you need help or have questions, call me!
The old adage "Nohing in Life is Free" is playing an important roll in our Springfield A.L.I.V.E. unit this year. We have implemented a multi-level "salary" structure and already have students saving hundreds of dollars! Beware not to spend frivilously, because as in real life, you will be paying "rent" weekly for your desk and chair, purchasing pencils and other supplies in the class with classroom money (we will no longer be allowing you to 'borrow' a pencil or 'borrow' an eraser!) and you may even find yourself in our "homeless shelter" if you don't spend wisely!
After students earn more than $200, they are buying their way up the pay structure to level two! The next level costs $300, level 4 costs $400 and so on. Be careful, if you don't have $15 left to rent your desk and chair you may be doing your class work on the floor of the homeless shelter!
Never fear, you can earn money daily by coming to class on time, being prepared, respecting other students & teachers and taking responsibility to get your work done. Each of these tasks and many more will earn you $1 at level 1, $2 at level 2, $3 at level 3 etc. However, if you choose to disrespect class rules it will cost you 10 times your level! OUCH!!!
So if you are asked to start working and you choose not to, an adult will remind you one time... then it will cost you! $10 if you're on level 1, $20 if you're on level 2, $30 at level 3, etc. In life, to make more money usually requires you to have more responsibilities. The higher your salary level the more you will need to raise expectations for yourself! You can do it... and we're here to help.
Our woodshop, sewing room and kitchen are in 'full-swing'. If you want Cornhole Games for the Holidays order soon! We are still delivering games within 4-6 weeks after receiving requests. So all orders placed in October or early November should be delivered by Winter break. You can email, phone or send hard copies to my attention. Look for our "mini" cornhole games can now be ordered for $35. They are built at 1/4th the size of official ACA (American Cornhole Association) games. The tiny bags are filled with aquarium rock to provide a little more weight. Please contact me for ordering details.
