Dear Parents and Students,
What a wonderful year we had. Some intensive work on repeated reading, multiple exposure and writing almost every day paid off! Many students are feeling more confident in their own abilities and improving upon their I.E.P. goals. PLEASE KEEP PRACTICING OVER THE SUMMER! There is a saying "If you don't use it, you'll lose it." This definately applies to the reading and writing skills that we worked-on all year long. DON'T LOSE EVERYTHING YOU WORKED SO HARD TO GAIN DURING THE 2008/2009 SCHOOL YEAR. It is important to read and write EVERY day. Read a few paragraphs and then write a simple summary, write 5 Ws, etc... YOU CAN DO IT!
For those of you who graduated, CONGRATULATIONS Jamie, Josh, Ann, Trayshawn, Chris W., Ashley and Lauren. I could not be prouder of your hard work and accomplishments. Keep in touch and continue using your skills so you can just keep getting better and better at everything you do.
Many of you are heading to PLCC to explore careers. Work hard, advocate for yourself and please come visit us often! Your Springfield A.L.I.V.E. classmates and teachers will enjoy hearing about all the exciting things you are doing at the Career Center!
Our woodshop and kitchen are closed for the summer. We had hoped to have extra Cornhole games available for people to purchase over the summer but we just kept getting more and more orders. SO WE ARE SOLD OUT UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST!!! We ARE going to accept orders throughout the summer and start a waiting list. The first 6 people to order will have their games delivered by the end of Sept. or beginning of October. AS OF JUNE 6TH THERE ARE ALREADY 2 ORDERS WAITING TO BE MADE. Plan ahead if you want this game for the early fall!!! You can email orders throughout the summer or call my home phone. Please leave me a number to call you back if you get the answering machine.
Look for our "mini" cornhole games next year. They are built at 1/4th the size of official ACA (American Cornhole Association) games. The tiny bags are filled with aquarium rock to provide a little more weight. Click on the blue FILES button at the top of this page. Also look for other new products next year! Scoreboards, possibly with cup holders, games that include lighting and maybe even premeasured methods to help you set-up your court quicker and easier.
