November
We are into the 3rd week of November and getting ready for Thanksgiving!
I want to thank all of you for coming into conferences and taking the time to go over your child's progress so far in kindergarten. I can honestly say that every student in here is making progress and moving toward our final goal.
In reading we are beginning to build words using onset and rhyme which is the beginning letter & then the rest of the word. /c/ + /at/ = cat. Many students are catching on to this and have been able to read more words as well as write more words in their journals. Our new reading series contains books all about friends and relationships with them. We will be discussing feelings along with this topic. We will also be reading stories about Thanksgiving and giving thanks for things and for people.
In math we started patterning and will continue this for another week.
We will be having a Thanksgiving feast in our room on Monday, November 23rd. Please see the note sent home about what to bring in for this special event.
Thank you and Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
