Craig’s Corner
What a relief that conferences are done! Thank you to all the parents/grandparents who took the time to come in and talk this week. By working together, we can make the kindergarten experience even better for your child. Continue to practice the circled items each evening, because we continue to add new skills weekly. It’s important that your child have a good foundation with the letters and sounds, so that he/she will be able to sound out words and begin to write them.
I sent a book order home last week with each child. If you are interested in purchasing books, please have the order form and money back to school by Wednesday, November 11th. Reading is a skill that all children will use for the rest of their lives. Please help them to enjoy it by reading to or with them each evening. Cuddling up together with a good book is a great way to spend some quality time together.
NEWS FLASH! Don’t throw away your newspapers and junk mail. Roosevelt has a recycling container in the parking lot and the kindergarteners are going to help fill it with recycled paper. Just send your PAPER to school with your child and we’ll take it from there.
We had a busy day today! We tried to learn to blow bubbles with our bubble gum, made and enjoyed Banana Bites and celebrated Backwards Day. Wow!
Don’t forget our new writing practice. Practice sounding out and writing down one or two words each evening. I’m excited to see how it’s going.
Please remember to dress your child in warm clothes each day. We will go outside unless it is raining. Your child needs to have a coat, hat, mittens/gloves every day. It is a good idea to write your child’s name in everything that you would like to see again. When I find things on the rug and ask who they belong to, no one seems to know!
Keep in mind that we are still collecting food for the needy. People have been so willing to give, and the kids are really getting excited about the amount of food that we will be able to send to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Thanks for your generosity.
Picture Re-take day will be on November 10th. If you were unhappy with your child’s pictures, please mark this date on your calendar. Send in the picture packet (with all the pictures included) and they will take your child’s picture again.
Thanksgiving will be upon us before long. We will be feasting in the kindergarten rooms on the Tuesday before break. We will be sending home a note asking for supplies for our feast next week. Please watch the book bags!
