Craig’s Corner
WOW! Autumn Hupp must really want me to get
a pie in the face! She brought in
a huge donation just to make sure it happened. Thanks Autumn for bringing in all your loose change. I’m sure the kids at Children’s
Hospital are really grateful too.
A huge
THANK YOU to everyone who has already sent in a costume for your child’s part
in the Career Program. If you
haven’t gotten a costume yet, please try to do so this weekend. It would be really helpful to your
child if he/she could practice with a costume and/or prop.
Our
Valentine Party will be on Friday, February 12th. Don’t forget to take time this weekend
to make your Valentine box. Please
don’t bring them to school until Wednesday or Thursday, as we have no place to
store them. When you are helping
the children with their Valentines, please only have them sign their name. This will make the cards so much easier
to deliver. Everyone is welcome for
the party, and it will begin at 2:15p.m.
We are really looking forward to a great time.
We are
really concentrating on our writing!
Hopefully you noticed the ice cream paper that came home yesterday. By the end of kindergarten every child
will need to be able to write a paragraph. PLEASE DON’T PANIC!!
It can be a really simple paragraph with just 3 sentences about a
specific topic. For example, the
following 3 sentences would be an acceptable paragraph for your kindergarten
student:
I have a
dog. He is big. I love my dog.
Keep
this skill in mind when you have a minute to sit down and work together. Give your child an idea and have
him/her write down three or four sentences. Happy Writing!!
We
read the story Katy No Pockets, and we have been keeping track of how many
pockets we have in the whole class.
We have also been reviewing our shapes and playing a game with them
too. We read the story, The Shape
of Things and talked about how we could change them by using the language from
the story. We found out that a
circle is a circle until you add numbers and hands, and then it’s a clock. We also learned that a triangle is just
a triangle until you add a zipper and a flap, and then it’s a tent.
Next
week is going to be a busy week. We will be celebrating Lincoln’s Birthday and
Valentines Day. Wow, that’s a lot
of celebrating, along with our learning.
We are continuing to add new skills to our progress reports, almost on a
daily basis. We are getting ready
for our conferences, which are later in February. Letters are coming home tonight.
I’m making a list and
checking it twice
If everyone could count to
100,
Oh wouldn’t that be nice!
The
100th Day of School is coming up and I have a certificate and small
surprise for anyone who can count to 100 all by themselves. Please take time over the next week to
practice.
YIKES! The January results are in for the
class with the best attendance and we were not even in the running. Please try to make sure your child is
in school every day. Have a great
weekend!
