We are now studying plate tectonics in science class. You may read about this topic by going to the chapters on Plate Tectonics, Volcanoes, and Earthquakes in the Earth Science Text. You may also download the Power Point below. We are planning on having the test on this unit before we go on winter break.
Instructions for today: Go to the puzzle maker link below and create a criss cross puzzle using the following key terms. Volcano, tectonicplates, earthquake, pangaea, midoceanridge, divergent (plate boundary), convergent (plate boundary), fault, magma, lava, core, crust, mantle, lithosphere, asthenosphere. Print it to the library printer and complete it. Make the title your names.
Students are now presenting their Biome Power Points to their class mates. Some of them are really cool!
Attention Potential Ski & Snowboard Club Members:
The Spring Hill Ski Club will be going to the Brandywine Ski Resort on Sunday evenings. We will meet in the High School parking lot at 3:15 PM, and will return to the High School parking lot at 9:30 PM. Students will be taking a school bus to the ski area. Room on the bus is limited to 45 students. These seats are reserved for the first 45 students to pay (see fees below for payment info).
Fees:
Students must pay a nonrefundable $30.00 transportation fee to Mr. Fleming in cash only.
Next students need to determine if they want to invest in their own equipment or rent equipment. Only professional grade equipment may be used at the ski area!
Students who own their own equipment will need to have a check written to the Boston Mills Ski Resort for the amount of $127.00. Students who rent equipment will need to have a check written to the Boston Mills Ski Resort for the amount of $178.12. Once a student has paid his/her nonrefundable $30.00 transportation fee and written a check to the Boston Mills Ski Resort he/she will be a member of the club. Please give all checks and cash to Mr. Fleming and receive a receipt.
Paper work: Students must completely fill out the Boston Mills/Brandywine forms in the School Club Program brochure that explains every detail of the club’s benefits and regulations. Parents and students are encouraged to thoroughly read this brochure together. Parents must also fill out a current Springfield Emergency Medical form in order to ride the bus.
