Ski club is on today! Update below.
Class Info (Check box to include this section when classpage is printed:)
Attention Ski Club: Looks like I will have to DVR (record) the Super Bowl.   The members voted by a 2 to 1 ratio to reschedule our fifth outing to Brandywine on Sunday February 7.   I guess I can see the commercials later!   On the upside we have good snow at Brandywine and the place should be empty on super bowl Sunday.     Sorry for any convenience this may cause.
We are considering a last hoorah trip to Boston Mills on Tuesday February 23.   Here is the plan:
1. At the end of the school day students will report to my room where they will get ready to board the bus.
2. Students will board the bus and we will go to the Winking Lizard in Peninsula for an early dinner.
3. We will then proceed to Boston Mills Ski Area where the students will spend a few hours on the slopes.
4. Parents or guardians will meet me at the fireplace inside Boston Mills at 7100 Riverview Road, Peninsula, Ohio 44264 (not Brandywine!!) and sign out the students no later than 8:00 P.M. Car pools are welcome. You can get directions at http://www.bmbw.com/contact-us/directions-%2526amp%3B-lodging
Students will also need to:
1. Pay me $5.00 in cash for the bus.
2. Turn in the permission slip completed and signed.

What to bring to school:
•          Money (cash!) for diner (plus a $2.00 tip!!) at the Winking Lizard.   You can see the menu by going to: http://www.winkinglizard.com/data/content/menus/BPMICCFLBM/menu(pizza).html
•          Ski free card
•          If you have used all of your three ski free sessions you will need to bring money for a lift ticket and rental if necessary.   You can find prices at http://www.bmbw.com/plan-and-buy/tickets%2C-rentals-%2526amp%3B-lessons
•          Equipment including clothes, skis, snowboards …
•          A dollar for a locker.
•          Cell phone, camera …

The Boston Mills winter carnival will be on Saturday March 6.   This is a lot of fun; students who have not used their ski three free cards can get in free. You can also use one of the remaining sessions on the card for a friend or family member!   Go to the BMBW web site and go to the events link for details.   I'll be there! Special thanks to Mr. Vaughn, our Atheletic Director, for volunteering his time to help the ski clubs out; none of us receive payment for   ski club.   We simply love having fun with the students on the slopes!     Always check this web page on Sunday before you leave for the high school to make sure there have been no emergency cancellations!       You may find more information at the BMBW web site.   Since we have a lot of beginner snowboarders I have put an excellent instructional web page for snowboarding techniques in my web links below.   Our schedule is as follows:
Sunday February 7
End of the year party Feb.23?
After the fifth outing students will be able to use their Sunday passes for the remainder of the season but no transportation will be provided.   Parents should also understand the club advisors may not be at the ski area from that point forward.   Remember the ski free cards are good at both Boston Mills and Brandywine ski centers any day of the week.

Dog Breeding Class Activity Directions:
1.Students will go to the AKC website and investigate different breeds of dogs.
2. Along with a student partner (2 people per group ONLY), you will determine which characteristics you would like to breed into your own BRAND NEW dog breed.
3.You will pick a female from one breed of dog (the ****) and a male from another breed of dog (the STUD).
4.You will detail what each breed is “known” for (do this separately for each breed under a photograph of the breed).
5. Come up with a NEW NAME for your NEW BREED.
6. Below your new breed describe the characteristics for that NEW BREED.
7. You may down load a partially finished example in the file below.

We are starting a unit on genetics this week.   I will be collecting the earth science book and passing out the life science book on Monday.

Students are beginning to explore animal classifications to be the next topic of research.
