May/June, 2009
We are now in 4th quarter with 4weeks left, including today, until the end of school. Time tends to fly so let's keep focused on our studies, homework, and any projects that are assigned by the teachers. Don't forget grades can improve with good work and effort on those exams.
We have no school on Memorial Day, May 25th. Exams start on Tuesday, June 2nd and run through Friday, June 5th.
Students need to remember to keep bringing a pencil to class.
All ELL classes and ESOL Practical English classes will continue working on vocabulary development, grammar, and reading comprehension. Don't forget you will be getting a letter next school year noting the results of the LAS Links state English test. The results won't be given to the teachers until July, 2009.
Important dates:
Exam week---June 1, 2009
Last day of school---June 5, 2009
If students say they have no homework then READ, READ, READ, STUDY, AND STUDY. Reading has been known to improve school performance.
Students are forgetting to come prepared to class. Please remind them of the following.
Don't Forget
Students are still expected to show up ready for class with a notebook, an erasable pen or a pencil, a two pocket folder, and looseleaf paper (large ruled not college ruled). Agendas are used for hall passes to the restroom and other classes during M-W-Th-F study hall time.
I request that the students do not drink, eat, or chew gum in my class. They are in school to focus on their learning and eating can be done in the cafeteria.
Keep remembering to follow teacher expectations in room 119.
-
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
-
Come to class on time with notebook, paper, pencil, and agenda or personal organizer.
-
Listen and raise your hand to speak and use English for academic responses.
-
No eating, drinking, or gum is allowed in class.

Work turned in on time receives credit. In case of absences arrangements will be made.
-
The bell does not dismiss you. The teacher will.
At the conclusion of school I want to wish all of the students and their families a restful and fun filled summer. Remember to stay safe in all your endeavors.
