Thank you for visiting room 6's class page. We are working as hard as ever. Here is what is going on in our room:
Reading: In our guided reading groups the students are working on identifying story elements such as the characters, setting, and problem. They are also working on basic comprehension skills and remembering what they read. Ask your child questions when they are done reading a book at home to help boost their comprehension.
Centers: The students are working on their literacy skills through penguin, Martin Luther King Jr., and polar bear themed centers. They are working with making new words using words they already know, playing geometry concentration, writing stories, and putting words into ABC order.
Math: The students are focusing on the different aspects of geometry. They have learned about points, line segments, and parallel lines. They are also working on symmetry and learning the different three dimensional shapes.
Social Studies: The students are beginning a unit where they will learn the different continents and oceans.

Character Word of the Month: Integrity
Please help your child practice this character trait at home. Thank you
Please remember that your child has homework each night Monday through Thursday each week. Homework is front and back. Both sides must be completed and brought back to school each morning. Homework helps reinforce skills being taught at school and it teaches the children responsibility.
