Thank you for visiting room 6's class page. The beginning of school is off to a great start. The children are becoming comfortable with their new routines and we have started centers. Here is what is going on in our room:
Reading: I am currently testing each student to determine their guided reading level so that we may begin guided reading lessons within the next couple of weeks. Ask your child questions when they are done reading a book at home to help boost their comprehension.
Centers: The students are working on their literacy skills through centers themed around apples and citizenship. We are just finishing our first week of second grade centers and they are doing very well!
Math: The students are focusing on math routines, math boxes, and math facts. They have also learned to play three math games (top it, addition top it, and penny plate).
Social Studies: The students are learning about how to be a good citizen in the community, at home, and at school.

Character Word of the Month: Respect
Please help your child practice this character trait at home. Thank you
Please remember that your child has homework each night Monday through Thursday each week. Homework is front and back. Both sides must be completed and brought back to school each morning. Homework helps reinforce skills being taught at school and it teaches the children responsibility. Book logs are due each Friday.
Book reports: The first book report has been sent home. Please have your child complete and return no later than September 30. Thank you!
