Welcome to Mrs. Rupkey's Kindergarten Class!!!! Kindergarten is a very exciting time. I look forward to working with your child for the 2009-2010 school year. They will learn so much this year, such as meeting new friends, learning to read and write, identifying numbers, and practicing how to use the character traits with one another.
Congratulations!! We are now a Missouri School of Character!!!
Things to work on at home with your child:
Read to your child each night for at least 15 minutes
Have your child practice saying the ABC's and singing them
Help your child create words through sounding out the letters he/she hears
Help your child write his or her numbers from 0-20
Count with your child to 100
Have your child practice memorizing their kindergarten sight words below
a, am, an, and, as, at, be, by, can, cat, dad, dog, go, he, I, if, in, is, it, like, me, mom, my, no, not, on, see, she, so, the, to, up, us, we, you
Themes for the months ahead:
If you would like to bring in a snack (cupcakes or cookies) for your child's birthday that would be great. However, the snack must be store bought.
We will have show and tell on Fridays. The item will begin with the letter of the week. There will be a letter sent how each week so you will know what to look for. Please remind your child that the show and tell item needs to stay in his or her book bag until it is show and tell time.
Please make sure to bring in your school supplies for the year. They can be brought in on Meet the Teacher Night or on the first day. Thank you for your hard work in finding the items on the list.
Listed below are fun websites to help your child learn important kindergarten concepts. There are also flashcards that your child can practice with throughout the year. Please feel free to view this website as much as possible because I will continuously update you on new events taking place in our classroom.
Classroom Schedule:
