Welcome to Mrs. Rupkey's Kindergarten Class!!!!

Congratulations!!  We are now a Missouri School of Character!!!

I am so pleased at how well the kids are writing and reading.  I am sure you can tell a difference at home too.  Please continue to read with your child at least 15 minutes a night.

Things to work on at home with your child

  • Read to your child each night for at least 15 minutes
  • Help your child create words through sounding out the letters he/she hears
  • Help your child write his or her numbers from 0-20
  • Count with your child to 100
  • Have your child practice memorizing their kindergarten sight words below
  • Have your child write a story about any topic

If you would like to bring in a snack (cupcakes or cookies) for your child's birthday that would be great.  However, the snack must be store bought.

We will continue to do the "Star of the Week."  This is where your child will talk about his/her family and interests to the class.  The class will write about the star of the week, and we will create a book about your child. We will also discuss how your child shows the character traits at school, such as respect, responsibility, cooperation, integrity and appreciation.

School Picnic
The school picnic is on May 16th.  The school can always use help with having volunteers at a booth.  If you are interested in volunteering at a booth, then please notify me of your interest.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!!

Listed below are fun websites to help your child learn important kindergarten concepts. There are also flashcards that your child can practice with throughout the year.
