LIBRARY INFORMATION

     BOOK ADVENTURE.ORG

Grades 2 - 5:  Book Adventure is a free website devoted to BOOKS!  Students register on the site and create a user id and a password (grades, 3, 4, & 5 have done this).  If they read a book that is on this site, students can then take a quiz on the book and if they answer most of the questions correctly (90%), they earn points.  Points can be redeemed online for prizes and in school, a free ice cream is given to any student who earns 500 points.  Every 500 points, another ice cream is earned.  If all the students in a class earns 500 points, a pizza party is given to the class in the library.

The library schedule for grades pre-K through grade 8 is included in the file titled "Library Information."  This file also includes information needed to access the "Book Adventure" accounts (www.bookadventure.org), WORLDBOOKONLINE, and the SIRS online database.  In addition, there is information about the SCL Book Clubs and the SCL Scrabble Club.

SCRABBLE CLUB INFORMATION

The Scrabble Club meets on Mondays during lunch in the library.  The club is open for students in grades 6 - 8.  Students are expected to behave appropriately in the library during this time.  They eat their lunch in the library and then break into groups to play scrabble.  Students should clean up after themselves.  I DO NOT ALLOW PEANUT PRODUCTS IN THE LIBRARY!!!  Please do not pack peanut butter sandwiches on Mondays.  Thank you!

BOOK CLUB SCHEDULES
(CHECK EVERY DAY BECAUSE WE OFTEN HAVE TO RESCHEDULE)

We have book clubs for grades 3 - 8.  We meet monthly (or weekly) to discuss a selected novel that we all read.  It is just an informal gathering to talk books and share some good "reads.

The library is in desperate need of stuffed animals, beanbags, bookcases, and of course--BOOKS!  We gladly accept any donations you would like to make.  If you donate books that the library doesn't need, we in turn, donate them to the parish rummage sale or to the Wheaton Library used book sale.  You may bring donated items any time the school is open.  Thank you for your generosity!
