Homework Slips
:
Homework slips need to be signed and put inside the take home folder.
PLEASE ONLY SIGN HOMEWORK SLIPS WHEN YOUR CHILD DOES HIS/HER HOMEWORK. Homework slips are checked every morning.
Math Facts
:
The children should practice addition/subtraction math facts (example 2+3= ?) at least twice a week for math homework.
The children can use manipulatives (cubes, counters, dots on dice or dominoes, etc.), pencil and paper (draw pictures to help figure out a problem), computer programs, flashcards, board games, or any other creative way you can think of.
There is nothing to turn in the next day, but make sure to write down the number of minutes on the math fact calendar.
Book Orders: Next book order is due! You can now send one check to school OR even order online! Hopefully this simplifies the ordering process! If you wish to purchase a book as a gift, please let me know and I will contact you when the order comes in.

We are working on:
~ using illustrations to tell a story and writing sentences
~stretching out words
~leaving spaces between words and sentences
~capital letters at the beginning of every sentence
~punctuation marks at the end of every sentence
~writing a beginning, middle, and an end
Spelling
The spelling tests have 2 different skills, recognition and recall. The first six words have a spelling pattern: short or long vowel, blends, etc. The last four words are high frequency words, words that are often seen while reading.
Ways to practice spelling words:
write them on a dry erase board, write the words in a sentence, use bathtub crayons/markers to write the words while taking a bath, say and clap the words,
use chalk to write the words outside, use playdough to build letters for the words
