REMINDERS       

• Monday, March 15: NO SCHOOL - INSERVICE DAY FOR TEACHERS
• Tuesday, March 16: Irish Dancers @1:30 in the gym!
• All this week, I will be testing everyone on all skills for the third quarter!  Please continue to practice vowel sounds, sight words, tying shoes, address, and any areas that they are still unsure! 
•  Library Books: All books need to be returned by Tuesday each week.
• Snack: Send a napkin each day with their snack and juice! 

CLASS WORK:

• READING/LANGUAGE ARTS:

       This week we will make a book "Yankee Doodle" and learn a song (Yancie the Yak), we will practice the sound for the letter, practice writing the letter (uppercase and lowercase) correctly and read the book.

       Please practice reading the books they make, practice the sounds for each letter and writing the letters correctly at home.

       Please practice the sight words each night.  Daily practice builds confidence, retention, and the ability to "See it and Say it".  We will send new words home each week.  Practice spelling them too!  Have them pick out the words in their own books as well as books they read.

      We will be learning words that belong to the "ub" family! 

      We will be writing in our journals about things we have been doing or I will give them a prompt to write about!   

• MATH: Unit 5 - Time and Money       

       Calendar - days of the week and months of the year

       Sequencing 

        More time, less time

       Clocks - recognize and use a digital and analog clock

       Time - recognizing the hour and minute hand, telling time to the hour and half    

                  hour and writing the time in digital and analog form.

        Money -

         Recognize, name and know the value for the penny, nickel, dime and quarter

         Count simple combination of coins - all nickels (5's), all dimes (10's), a nickel and a 

              few pennies, a dime and a few pennies, or a quarter and a few pennies. 

• SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES AND ART: 

      Art: Leprechauns, shamrocks, pot of gold, Easter projects, ocean life, etc.

      Science: Ocean Unit

      We will explore the habitat and sea life of the ocean.  We will learn about the seahorse,

      whale, sea turtle, fish, coral, and many of the strange and beautiful creatures that live in

      the ocean.  

      Social Studies: Pets/Responsible Citizenship 

      RELIGION: Stations of the Cross 

       We will make a stations of the cross book and discuss what happened to Jesus on Good

       Friday. 

       We will continue to practice our morning prayer, meal prayer,

       Glory Be, Hail Mary and Our Father!  Please practice at home too!
