Third Grade Weekly Newsletter
Parents, please sign up to "BE NOTIFIED" for this weekly class page update. This will notify you through e-mail as to when our class page has been updated each week. I usually update it every Friday for the upcoming week's events. (The BE NOTIFIED button is at the top of this class page right underneath the blue buttons)
Students, it was great to meet everyone on the Back to School Day. We will spend most of our first day getting to know each other, getting organized, and learning about what life in 3rd grade will be like this year :)
This week in school:
Religion - Ch. 1 "The Holy Spirit Guides Us to Live as Christians" - being members of the Catholic Church, sharing our gifts with one another, the communion of saints, spreading the Good News and reading letters from St. Paul
Reading/Language Arts- Students will be given their September Book Project assignments on Tuesday. We will begin writing a narrative story entitled, "A Perfect Summer Day" and work on that throughout the week. I will also be giving each child a reading fluency assessment during this first week of school.
Spelling - no words for this first week (Next week's words are already listed below if you would like a head start)
Math- Ch. 1 - Place Value - uses of numbers (to count, label, measure, or show position), writing numbers in word form (three hundred fifteen), standard form (315), and expanded form (300+10+5)
Social Studies- Steps to Respect Lessons: Respect, Friendship, Joining a Group, and Recognizing Bullying
Science - experiments and mystery bag activity
