Religion
Unit One in religion reviews the basic beliefs of our Catholic faith. The Lesson this week is titled: Jesus is the Son of God

Social Studies
The first unit in Social Studies includes the study of different types of communities and the people who live and work in them. So far students have reviewed map skills learned in first grade, discussed what makes their own communities special, constructed maps of their individual neighborhoods, and have or will watch a video on three different kinds of communities: urban, suburban, and rural. These are not words one commonly uses around the house (at least not our house) so if you can discuss these different types of communities with your student it will help him/her become familiar with the terms and understand what they mean.

Writing
Students continue to work on personal narratives. Currently they are working on a story about something they did with a friend, relative, or pet.
Mrs. Lauer will teach science to all second graders this year. Students in Room 2-14 have Science on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Parents should check assignment notebooks on these nights for any science homework and the date that assignment is due. Please check Mrs. Lauer's class page for important information about science topics, activities, and assignments and tests.
