Here are the events for the week of June 1, 2009.

Tuesday, June 2: No All School Mass today
Wednesday, June 3: Regular Schedule of Classes
Thursday, June 4: Primary Mass--8:00 AM--Please join us if you are able
Friday, June 5: Graduation All School Mass--9:00 AM Awards Assembly--10:00 AM--Gym
Monday, June 8: Cleaning Day--We will be cleaning in the morning. I can use several adults to supervise the children as they clean their desks and to wipe down tables and shelves. Let me know if you can help.
End of the year picnic sponsored by Mrs. Lauer's class. More to come on this later.

Reading
This week the students will be reading trade books and completing independent reading contracts (all in school).
Spelling
There will be no new spelling words for the rest of the year.
Math
Students will be tested on Chapter 22, subtracting 3-digit numbers with and without regrouping on Thursday this week. They will also be completing lessons on multiplication and division.

Students are expected to master their addition and subtraction facts in second grade
.
The children will be expected to complete a 100 problem test in 7 minutes or less.
Congratulations to all 14 second graders who passed both the addition and subtraction facts tests with scores of 86 % or higher.

Religion
The children will complete and be tested on a chapter on prayer this week. They will then begin a chapter on the Our Father, the prayer Jesus taught us.
Social Studies
Students will review for a test on Unit 5 on Monday of this week and will be tested on Tuesday (room 2-12) or Wednesday (room 2-14) this week. Both classes will end the year with a fun activity on American Heroes.
Writing
Students complete "All About" books this week.
The children will also organize their writing portfolio which will accompany them to their next class.

Science
Mrs. Lauer will teach science to all second graders this year. Students in Room 2-14 have Science on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Parents should check assignment notebooks on these nights for any science homework and the date that assignment is due.
