No School: Friday, November 20
Remember to sign up for a conference for Thursday evening or Friday morning this week.
K4 does not do 1st quarter report cards, however, it is a great opportunity
to discuss their progress so far and any concerns you may have at this time. Thank you!

Our Top dog, Conner, had his mom read his favorite book to us this week.
Dad also came in to spend special time with the class.

Happy birthday Joe! A BIG thank you to Mrs. Guerino
for helping out to make Joe's birthday song a fun time!
Difficult to explain to a sub. :)
"Olden Days"
Many of our stories will be picture books from Little House on the Prairie and stories about the first Thanksgiving.
Please remember to send our letter writing activity to someone special (i.e., a Grandparent or another special person in your child's life).
After we share these letters of their special memories from long ago, they will be sent home for your child to cherish forever.
Thank you for your help.
This week I have learned that even at a 4 year old level, having a sub is just not the same. :) I am relieved to be back and have the kids back in our normal routines this week. Due to time some activities weren't completed last week, so we will be catching up a little and moving on with letter H and our Olden Days theme.
For the week of November 9-13
Centers for the week:
(Rotated through M,T,Th,F)
1. H is for HAPPY
2. Indian Stone Game
3. Native American Necklaces
4. Sand and water play
Reading: Starting our Little House on the Prairie books to learn differences from now and then. Identifying letter Hh and it's sound with our story Happy Hippo. Sharing our classbook: If I had a Million Da,Da, Dollars. We will be creating a new classbook this week titled Thank you, God. Please watch for our books in your child's folder. When it is your child's turn, have your child focus on following the words left to right as you read our book together, sign our comment page, and return next day.
Math: Identifying one on one correspondence as we play a Native American game called "Indian Stone Game" as we score and match patterns. Daily, we focus on identifying each number and recognizing our "AABB" pattern of colors in our numbers on the November calendar. Graphing is incorporated daily in our weather watching. Identifying how many days of specific weather types are discussed and compared to find out which weather type has more.
Language Arts: Identifying words that begin with H. Writing letter Hh. Continue practicing to identify and write letters Aa-Hh and 1-5 at home. Please practice writing first names also at home the big K4 way. Using capital only for the first letter and lowercase for the rest.
Religion: Creating our Thank you, God class book this week. We will continue to think about what we are thankful for as Thanksgiving approaches.
Social Studies: Discuss how our "Hands our for Helping" as we read our God gave us Hands take home books. (We will postpone our pledge of allegiance until letter P week)
Science: Playing with sand and discovering the changes as we add water.
Art: Making a Thanksgiving Day placemats. Creating Native American necklaces using those fine motor skills with straws and cereal pieces. Identifying facial features and we create our Happy faces on our H's.
4th grade buddy activity: Learning about Dream Catchers and Native American Symbols. Afterwards, we will make our own Dream Catcher! Last week, our buddies helped with starting our placemats due to my illness. Thank you buddies!!!

? Mystery Bag: Please have your child place 2 small objects in the Mystery Bag to bring to school when it is their turn. Thank you for thinking of clues with your child!
Snack Reminder: Please remember to send a snack every day for your child with a napkin. Please keep it in the same location in your child's backpack (separate from lunch bag) for easy access. Thank you!
