 Next week I am on jury duty.  Mrs. Conrardy will be coming in if I get called in for service.  Because of this there will not be a update chart or a newsletter next week.

This Week:

Reading:  Our story of the week was Bunny Cakes.  This story is about Max and his sister Ruby.    They are making birthday cakes for their Grandma.  Max makes a earthworm cake with caterpillar icing.  Ruby is making a angel suprise cake with rasberry fluff icing.  Max wants to help make the cake but he keeps breaking and knocking things over.  Ruby sends Max to the store to buy items for the cake.  ASK YOUR CHILD... What does Max keep trying to get from the grocer, but he can't read his writing?  How does Max finally get what he wants?

Math:     We learned about probability.  What is something that is certain to happen?  What is possible to happen?  And what is impossible?  Some of our ideas of the impossible were: pigs can't fly, the grass is not blue, and an alligator will not fly up to the sun!  Things that are possible are:  having pizza for dinner, it might rain, and it is possible for everybody to stay on green!  We also did a probability experiment.  We each colored 3 craftsticks red on one side and blue on the other.  If we drop the sticks, what are the chances that all 3 sticks will land on the red side.

Religion:  God gave me 5 senses.  We  can use all of these senses in different ways.

Science:  We talked about astronauts and what they had to do to become astronauts.  ( lots of schooling)

Social Studies:  We continue to learn about the First Thanksgiving.  We learned about Squanto and how he taught the pilgrims to plant and harvest food.  We learned that the pilgrims used a hornbook to do all of their school work.  We had the help of our 7th grade buddies to make our Indian vests to wear on Friday.  We also made headbands with feathers and macaroni necklaces. 

Computer:  This week we returned to www.starfall.com.  We made a turkey and learned some more sign language.  (We have been learning out letters in class)
