SECOND GRADE NEWS
Working Together For Success
November 2-6
RELIGION
This week we read the story about Saul and learned about
how he made bad choices in how he treated the followers
of Jesus. We also discovered why he changed his name to Paul.
God forgave him for all the things he had done wrong and
gave him the chance to start all over again. Paul spent the
rest of his life teaching others about the love and forgiveness
that God gives all of us.
We are planning the Mass for next Thursday, 11/12.

LANGUAGE ARTS
This week we read the story Seeing. In the story
we learned a little about how our eyes and brain
work together to help us see. We also read a fun
story that played tricks with colors we were seeing in the pictures.
We are continuing to work with proper nouns and practicing
how to correctly write them in our sentences.
The vocabulary and high frequency words for Unit 2
are now on the flash cards.
MATH
This week we have been working with place value.
We have been using the base 10 blocks and the
Smart Board as we go through different activities
to help us understand the value of each digit in a number.

SCIENCE
The sun was cooperative and we were able to complete
our experiment. The temperature of the thermometer
wrapped in white paper went down a few degrees and
the thermometer wrapped in the black paper went up
a few degrees. We are discussing the reasons for this change.
