November 2009

It was great to see all of you at conferences.  Hopefully you have had a chance to look over our new report card format, as well as read the letter explaining how to access your child's grades beginning 2nd quarter.  I will begin posting 2nd quarter grades next week, and will do my best to update them weekly.

Some November dates to remember:

* November 24th: 6th grade has all-school Mass

* November 23rd: All food donations for the local food pantry must be in.

* November 26th & 27th: No school.  Happy Thanksgiving!

 

 

6th Grade Weekly Letter

Information for the week of 11/23-27

 

Math:

We will be starting chapter 4 which is on Fractions.

 

Social Studies:

We will be starting chapter 4 on India which the students have a project that will be due next Tuesday. We will also be learning the names and locations of all the countries in Asia. The country test will be on November 25th. Students will be given a map to study with and a website on my webpage is a great why to study. Students will be given a word bank on the test, so spelling of the words will not be a problem.

                  

Reading:

We will be starting unit 6 on Tuesday the 17th. The chapter 6test will be on Tuesday the 24th.

Keep reading The lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Your student will have question about the story to answer every week.

 

English:

  • We have begun work on our persuasive writing paper.   They will receive a rubric on Friday, November 20th.   We will, again, have plenty of class time to work.   I have not set a due date yet.
  • Tuesday, November 24: Adverb test & spelling test

 

Science:

 We are working on weathering and erosion this week. We will do some online labs and continue reading chapter 2 in the book.

 

Religion:  

We are working Chapter 5, the story of Moses and the Exodus.

                  

  • Please bring in food for our Thanksgiving food drive!
  • Out of Uniform day Friday, November 20th
