Rewald Trust Scholarship

Iowa Test of Basic Skills
Yes, we will be testing all students in grades three through eight during the first two weeks in March. Please remind your children of the importance of eating well, sleeping well and trying their best. This is a great opportunity for us to see individual strengths and weeknesses as well as help us in our evaluation and planning for what we do in the classrooms. The best of luck to all of our students who will be taking these tests.
Knowledge Quest
Our Academic Pursuit Traveling Team will be competing this month in the St. Charles Knowledge Quest Competition. The first competition is Wednesday, March 3, at 6:15 pm right here in Burlington at St. Charles. We wish them well and appreciate their extra time and efforts in representing our school in this competition.
8th Grade Girls' Basketball

Liturgy and Prayer
There are two all school masses in March. They are on the 2nd and 16th. Mrs. Stevens is in the process of planning the Living Stations of the Cross which will be on Tuesday, March 30. Students will perform the Stations for the school during the day and in the evening for the parish. We thank them for presenting the Stations to us in such a meaningful way.
Lenten Fish Fries
We hope many of you will be able to attend our parish's fish fries on Friday, March 12 and Friday, March 19. There is also one on Good Friday, April 2. Our 7th and 8th graders are lucky enough to be able to sell baked goods during these dinners to help with their 7th grade trip to Washington D.C. and the 8th grade class gift to the school.
Market Day
A big thank you to all who participte in our Market Day program. In speaking to the company's rep the other day, we found out that we have raised $144,000 since 1996. We began the program six years before that and so the total is probalby close to $200,000. What a great way to raise money, while feeding your families. A special thank you to those who work so hard to make it a success. If you have not been ordering from Market Day, please consider doing so. Our next Market Day is Tuesday, March 23.
Track Parents' Meeting
There is a parents' meeting for those who will be joining our school track team this spring. That meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 16 at 6:30. We look forward to another great track season. Further information about track can be found on the link on the home page of our WebPage. Track practice begins on March 29.

Student Council
Student Council is reminding us each day of the good things we can do to become closer to Jesus during this Lenten season. We thank them for their daily announcements and reminders.
We look forward to Color Day on Friday, March 19. The Student Council has planned a rainbow day for us.
Parent Satisfaction Updates
I would like to thank all of you who responded to our Parent Satisfaction Update. It was wonderful to hear all of your comments. I welcome and appreciate your input.
Looking Ahead-Casino Night
We hope you all have marked Saturday, April 24, to attend our Casino Night. Many have already been working hard to plan and help make this a successful fundraiser. The best part is that it is also so much fun. If you haven't already, you may want to start talking to friends and relatives about setting this date aside for a great time.

I have attached some links and files that you may find useful.
I hope that you have visited your child's (children's) classroom newsletters. It is helpful to click at the top of the page to be notified when a page has been updated. This will allow you to see the latest of what has been posted.

WKCE (Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination)
The WKCE reflects the eighth graders’ performance in reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science, as well as the results of a writing sample. These scores are given in a different manner than the Iowa Tests.
Rather than percentile rank or stanines, proficiency levels are given. There are four levels: minimal, basic, proficient and advanced.
v
100% of the students scored “proficient or advanced” in Reading, 97% in Language, 100% in Math, 100% in Social Studies, and 100% in Science.
v
There were three perfect scores in Language Arts, two in Science and four in Social Studies.
v
Fourteen students scored “advanced” in all of their tests.
We are obviously proud of our students’ performance. Please know that our staff uses these results to work to improve our program to best meet the needs of our students.
