Welcome 2009
January brings Catholic Schools Week-the week of January 25.
The week begins with 9:30 mass on Sunday, followed by our school Open House.
On Monday, the 26th, we welcome Grandparents to spend some time in classrooms and join us for lunch. We hope students can spend the afternoon with their grandparents as this is an early release day. This will be a blue and white uniform day.
There is no school on Tuesday, the 27th.
Wednesday we will be joined by St. Charles and Catholic Central to "Fill the Bus" with food for local food pantries. We will also hold an Academic Pursuit competition for the school. This will be a team shirt/jersey day.
Thursday is Parents' Day. Students will dress up for mass and then be joined by their families for lunch.
Friday will be our Team Day. We will work with our buddies on a project on and enjoy a game together.

As we approach the end of the second quarter, we would like to share some thoughts on grading and achievement.
-
Developing good work and study habits is key to future success.
-
A grade of a “C” or “Progressing” for younger students means that the student is performing at grade level expectations.
-
At times we should remember this quote from Mother Theresa, “ God doesn’t require us to succeed; he only requires that you try.”
-
Not all students, nor all adults, have the same aptitude for all subjects. We know people have various intelligences in varying degrees. Some of us are intrapersonal, some interpersonal. Some are strong verbal/linguistic learners.
Some are visual/spatial, others more bodily/kinesthetic. Some are logical/mathematical.
-
It is not unusual for some students to do better and to learn more easily in some subjects than in others. The same is true within a subject. One quarter the math skills might be related to number sense which might come easily to the mathematical thinker, another quarter the math skills might be related to geometry which might come easier to the visual/spatial learner.
