Iowa Test of Basic Skills
Below are the results of the 2009 Iowa Test. The numbers reported are the National School Norms. These scores indicate the percentile rank of our school compared to the scores of the other schools nationwide who took the test this year. A percentile rank of 85, for example, means that we scored higher than 85 out of every 100 schools in that particular area.

WKCE (Wisconsin Knowledge and Concepts Examination)
The WKCE reflects the eighth graders’ performance in reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science, as well as the results of a writing sample. These scores are given in a different manner than the Iowa Tests.
Rather than percentile rank or stanines, proficiency levels are given. There are four levels: minimal, basic, proficient and advanced.
v
100% of the students scored “proficient or advanced” in Reading, 97% in Language, 100% in Math, 100% in Social Studies, and 100% in Science.
v
There were three perfect scores in Language Arts, two in Science and four in Social Studies.
v
Fourteen students scored “advanced” in all of their tests.
We are obviously proud of our students’ performance. Please know that our staff uses these results to work to improve our program to best meet the needs of our students.
What Pride!
It is great to live in a community where we can watch, hear about and read about our students as they move onto high school and beyond. Sharing the stories are so rewarding. We are so excited for and proud of the individuals our students become. It is an honor to join their families in helping to mold these young people.
We are especially thrilled to hear that three of our own St. Mary’s students are the top of the senior classes here in Burlington. Congratulations to Patrick, the Catholic Central valedictorian, Catie, the Burlington High School valedictorian and Linnea, the BHS salutatorian. Congratulations to their parents as well for raising such responsible, bright, and wonderful young people. We are proud of you, yes, we are proud of you.
