Joined Together by Faith for 150 Years
Yes, we are celebrating our 150th anniversary as a school. Can you imagine the number of students who have walked these halls, the number of teachers who have presented lessons, the number of volunteers who have helped make this such a great place?!? We are honored to join those who have come before us. We celebrate the faith, the education, the relationships and the growth that have come from St. Mary's. Our past is so important to us. Our present gives us so much to be thankful for. Our future is bright as we look into the minds and spirits of those who are with us today.
Busy Summer
There was a lot of work that went on here at St. Mary's this summer. Staff and volunteers worked hard to get ready for this school year. Even driving by you can see all the beautiful landscaping that took place. Dads painted, assembled, built, moved, carried, and sweated on many projects. their hard work saved us many dollars as they built shelves and cubbies for the new kindergarten room off the cafeteria. Others worked to reconfigure our computer lab getting ready for the 20 new computers we purchased because of the hard work of our funraisers and the generosity of our parents and others. Teachers attended workshops and classes. three new SMART Boards now call a 3rd, 5th and 8th grade classroom home. This brings our number of SMART Boards to eight! The 8th grade science room has new tables, five classroom received new desks and chairs because of the generosity of a donor. New Language books will be used by the 5th through 8th graders. All students will be using our new Family Life Series.
Measuring Academic Progress
St. Mary's is thrilled to be launching a new assessment program this year for our 2nd through 8th graders called MAP-Measuring Academic Progress. The goal of this evaluative framework is to help teachers help students. It will serve as a major tool to help us meet the needs of all of our students. We will share more about this program soon.
