It has been a joy working with your children this year. I appreciate all of your support and generosity. Have a wonderful summer vacation!

Summer Activities
Mom, I have nothing to do.
Dad, I’m bored.
Now what can I do?
Here are some ideas to keep your child busy this summer and that are excellent ways to get his/her brain ready for next school year.
1.
Practice multiplication and division facts-
You can either use flash cards, play multiplication war, go to one of the many math internet sites, or have your child create their own game that uses multiplication and/or division.
2.
Writing Journal-
Have your child write about their day or have them make up a story.
3.
Art Projects-
Get a craft kit or have them create a picture using watercolors.
It is also fun to create objects from items in your recycling bin.
4.
Game Time-
Play board games that encourage the use of language, problem solving, or math skills such as Scrabble, Clue, Mancala, Scatagories, Uno, Etc.
5.
Explore the Internet
-
Find websites that have activities and games or have your child research topics of interest to them.
I have some fun sites listed below.
6.
Activity sheets
-
I sent home some packets at the end of the year.
7.
Join a Summer Program-
Take advantage of the numerous summer programs.
Join a sports team or take a summer school class at St. Mary’s.
The library also has some summer programs as well.
8.
Play!-
Get outside and enjoy the summer!
9.
Read, Read, Read!-
Take trips to the local library or have your child share books with friends.
Help your child with comprehension by reading with them or by having them re-tell the story to you.
