Welcome

to

St.Mary's Art Rm.

Congratulations to Students whose art work is being displayed at Burlington Memorial Hospital.

Nate Huberty, Tyler Swanson, Kelsey Gelden, Coley Haggard and Luke Brahm

What we're working on:

Kindergarteners  will improve their cutting, drawing, gluing and observational skills.

First Graders will build up their art element skills of Line, Shape, Color and Space.

Second Graders will learn to use the elements of art in their projects to better illustrate their ideas.

Third graders use line, texture and space to create dimension and depth in their art.

Fourth Graders use quite a variety of medias to express themselves, including batik, painting, design & yarn.

Fifth graders work on plaster masks, positive/negative designs, warm and cool colors and comic strips.

Sixth graders will do art in the likeness of Da Vinci to Picasso experimenting with many medias.

Seventh grade will focused on value and line design along with Op Art and color gradation to name a few.

Eighth graders will spend time perfecting perspective, color and 3-D.

 How art is assessed

Grading is based on how children illustrate their learning of the concepts and techniques;  how they apply the elements and principals taught for that assignment, and of course their individuality and Creativity.  Behavior and effort are always a factor as well.  Extra Credit is always an option as well as redoing any project for a better grade if it is done in the quarter it is due.  I do not mark anything late as long as it is handed in for that quarter.  A C is earned by turning in the bare requirements for an assignment.  Extra detail and effort as well as creativity will earn a higher grade.  Unfinished or work not turned in will result in less than a C.

PLEASE DONATE/RECYCLE

Supplies like yarn, felt, fabric, foam, fake flowers, ribbon, calendars, art prints, paper, matboard, yogurt cups, paper towel rolls,  old X-mas cards, cardboard egg cartons, and almost anything you can think of we'll find a use for.
