Our Week at a Glance
May 11 - 15
Grammar:
We will examine the parts of a dictionary entry.
We will arrange words in alphabetical order.
Reading:
We will explore the elements of fairy tale stories in a variety of tales.
We will chart the elements found in various fairy tales.
Math:
We will practice finding the area of irregular shapes using a grid.
We will use pattern blocks to create various polygons.
We will divide shapes to represent different fractional parts.
We will understand place value in 3 and 4 digit numbers.
History:
We will show that we understand the process by which immigrants become U.S. citizens.
We will identify key leaders in the Civil Rights movement.
Science:
We will continue to explore some famous scientists and describe ways their discoveries still help us today.
We will continue to create charts to show the major work of some famous scientists.
Spelling/Writing:
We will write and read cursive words and sentences correctly.
We will write and review all previously learned phonograms.

Homework assignment sheets go home each Monday. All assignments will be listed on that page. Spelling words are also printed on the back.
All students should be reading A.R. books for at least 15 minutes each night. They are expected to take 2 A.R. tests each week unless a longer time period has been approved by the teacher for students reading long chapter books. Read! Read! Read!
