Thank you.
Welcome to 2-8 grade music!
My name is Ms. Ritchey. I have a Bachelor's degree in All Level Music from Liberty University in Virginia. I have taught general music and choir in public and private schools as well as private voice and piano lessons. I also sang back up vocals and recorded with a travelling Christian band for several years before moving to San Antonio. I have a passion for praise and worship. I live with my 9 year old daughter here in town.
After meeting with Mrs. Anderson this summer, it is clear that I have big shoes to fill. This will be a year of transition; and I am praying for the Lord's guidance in all of the planning. I have met with several St. Luke's students and also watched dvds of previous performances. It is exciting to see such incredible musical talent here at St. Lukes.
I look forward to continuing with the wonderful Core Knowledge curriculum that has been implemented for for 2-6 grades. I will also be bringing some new things to the students. For example, third grade will be learning the recorder as a practical way of applying music theory with the incentive of playing a musical instrument for their peers.
I look forward to working with the 7-8 grade choir and drama classes. I know I am fortunate to be coming into such a well established choral program. This will be my first year to teach a middle drama class, but I have directed and acted in several productions over the years. I know we are going to have fun. I look forward to doing one act play as well.
I so look forward to meeting you all! Blessings and Thanks, Kelly Ritchey 2-8 grade music St. Lukes Episcopal School
