7th-grade French news
Bonjour et bienvenue!
The 7th-grade World Language department welcomes Miss Kaitlyn Kelly as a seventh-grade French teacher.
Mrs. Galiette and Miss Kelly have many exciting plans for their French students during the upcoming year, bien sûr!
During this first term, students and teachers are adjusting to a revised curriculum and new French textbooks.
We are getting to know one another while learning the French alphabet, common greetings, classroom vocabulary, and first names.
The students have already explored the francophone world, international organizations, and occupations which rely on the French language for vocabulary and communication.
Our cultural venue for the next two months will be the City of Light – Paris.
We will “visit” the most popular sites in this beautiful city, and will become acquainted with the Parisian culture.
Feel free to bring any interesting French facts or artifacts to class!
Since our class meets at the end of a very long morning for you, I suggest that you bring a snack (quick - no three-course meals, please!) to class to munch on as we get organized. Also, if you sense that you need your seat changed, see me immediately. Think of the spot where you will focus and achieve best: if you are not sitting there now, it's time for a change.
Continue to work on practicing your bêtes noires, and check Files#2 and #6 for practice sites on the internet. Most have audio components for pronunciation practice. Bonne chance!
A tout à l'heure,
Mme Galiette

8th-grade French news
Bonjour mes amis!
C’est la rentrée
! Welcome back to a new year, new books, new curriculum, and new adventures in French class.
The students are currently reviewing and filling in gaps to bridge the transition from 7th to 8th-grade French.
Our new texts are filled with traditional and contemporary French culture, with special emphasis on the French teenager’s lifestyle.
We will take time to discover the similarities and differences in American and French teen cultures. After our review, we will explore the wonderful world of French cuisine and the art of French dining. Allons au café!
Skill-wise, acquiring essential vocabulary and structures to upgrade speaking and writing activities is a priority as we move toward high-school preparation.
Be sure to access Files # 2 and #6 to practice your French!
A plus, mes amis,
Mme Galiette
